Joe has performed and recorded with major jazz figures such as Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Frank Rehak, Freddie Hubbard, Tim Hagans, Tony Campise, George Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Marvin Stamm, Billy Hart, Tim Armacoast, Ernie Watts, Arnett Cobb, Woody Witt, Ed Soph and Jon Faddis.

His 1980’s recordings made extensive use of electronics, but always with acoustic piano at the center.  Since the 90’s he has performed and recorded almost exclusively on piano.  His style is lyrical and focused and his improvisations are clean, never sacrificing content for flash.

Joe current records for the Maryland basedTafford Records label.  His poetry, stories and essays are published by Pierian Springs Press.

"I love Joe LoCascio’s writing!  His pieces have an innocence that sings to the heart while providing a challenge in harmony and form at the same time."                                                                                               - Art Lande

"Joe LoCascio is a first rate jazz pianist and composer with a style growing out of bop, but completely his own."

                                 - Randy Brecker

When you hear a composition for the first time, the artists have to win you over twice,

with their writing and their playing.  This can be a challenge, though not apparently

for pianist Joe LoCascio, whose In the City of Lost Things succeeds on more than one level.

LoCascio has dazzled since his 1986 debut; what’s impressive is

the way his talent continues to grow.
